ILLA MATEUA
On the northern side of the camp site is the Cala Mateua and here you will find the 'Illa Mateua' situated just a few meters off the beach. Easy access and the rich diversity of its seabed make it an ideal place to practice scuba-diving.
History of the 'Illa Mateua'
In 1674, the Count of Empúries handed over to the brothers, Salvi and Francesc Sureda, the land which Illa Mateua Camping Resort occupies today, in exchange for payment of taxes. On the deeds, the 'Illa Mateua' figures as the property's northern boundary.
Since then, this land has been preserved with minimum changes and it still belongs to the Sureda family.
